How is the retirement age set?
Estonia's retirement age rose gradually to 65, reached by those born in 1961 (in 2026). From birth year 1962 the age is tied to the life expectancy of 65-year-olds: the government confirms each cohort's age by regulation at least 2 years ahead, with increases capped at 3 months per year. Confirmed so far: 1962 (65y 1m) and 1963 (65y 3m); later years are projections. Deferred and partial pensions are also available.
